Ferner am Wegesrand: Ein rostiger Betonmischer. Ein Stapel alter Räder. Ein mattschwarz lackierter schwerer Geländewagen, eigentlich viel zu sauber für Gelände. In seinem großen Schatten spielen zwei Kinder, der Herr des Hauses ist einige Meter entfernt beschäftigt, mit Gasflamme das Grün aus den Fugen der Stellfläche zu brennen. Vorstädte, lichte Bebauung, und das Wackeln von Gardinen als Zeichen abweisender, vorsichtiger Aufmerksamkeit. Weiter mit der Sonne.

Dorfsamstag, anderer Schlaf und das Stolpern durch Zwielicht. Nacht floh, die Silhouetten der Bäume vor dem Haus wurden wieder deutlicher, Brunnenwasser sprudelt in den beginnenden Morgen und verschwindet mit leisem Gurgeln in der Tiefe von Rohren. Badezimmer-Selbst, Spiegelkontakt, ein Seufzen, kaltes Wasser und Warten. Wuf die Vögel im Futterhaus. Den Kaffee. Den etwas bewussteren Tag. Habt es mild heute.

Much later, and again in that familiar place, position: Backdoor, ash tree, gazing out into the dark that keeps the meadows covered. Random noises hint for small creatures making their way through the bushes and into temporary attention. Somewhere up there behind the houses, cars are speeding down the bypass street, taking a sharp turn, roaring engines, to disappear heading for the highway. Insects circling that dim lamp, then and now hitting its surface. Across the road, windowblings are being shut. Getting ready for the night, retreated to the inside. Sleep tight everyone wherever you are.

(Aufgebrochen mit dem Grau, angekommen mit dem Grau. Umwege durch enge Gassen, Sichtflug, Schrittgeschwindigkeit. Ein kleiner wilder Hund rennt hinter dem Zaun auf und ab und bellt überreizt. Rauchende Teenager. Anwohner schleppen Wochenend-Einkäufe nach Hause. Immer nur Minuten vom Wald.)

Grey sky, grey hours, thin rain still and a distinct lack of colours. Weeding obvious bugs out of very old code. Wondering how they got there in the first place. And afraid to dig even deeper. Too, coping with other annoyances that get into ones way elsewhere. Small pitfalls to again and again stumble. Closing in on 3pm and wondering to just conclude the day. Experiencing and pondering different wake states. Not just with machines.

Und dann Regen. Schlagartig, durchdringend. Eine Gruppe von Nachbarn flieht in den Supermarkt des geringsten Mißtrauens, vor der großen Tür schlagen die Tropfen kleine Blasen auf stehender Pfütze. Unstete Wellenbilder, verzerrte Reflektionen, Sinnieren über lang zurückliegende Schuljahre, Physik, Schwingungen. Amplitudenberge, Krümel von Blättern tragend. Und dahinter leere Korridore, volle Regale, die Packungsdichte hochprozentiger Drinks im Kassenbereich nimmt zu. Seltsame Gespräche ausfiltern, in den notwendigen Interaktionen alle Freundlichkeit zusammenkratzen, zu der der Freitag imstande ist. Und wieder schneller Ortswechsel, durch die Reihen parkender Boten und eine Kindergartengruppe in Gummistiefeln. Stundenglocken. Mittagsruhe. Nur nicht schlafen.

Katze auf dem Fensterbrett, eine immer noch dunkle Stadt dahinter, wenige Punkte warmen Lichts auf alten Fassaden, vereinzelte Geräusche, deren Quelle sich derzeit nicht ergründen lässt und vielleicht auch nicht wirklich interessant ist. Sterne, umfasst von samtenem Blau. Spürbar vor Sonnenaufgang. Planlos. Still. Habt es mild heute!)

Evening came and went, hours did melt, mind went on and off. Night feeling much later than it actually is. No more focus, realities fading into dreams. Music and sounds of distant trains filling the street crossroads to crossroads, there seems a desire to rest as well as an inability to rest, a whole load of loose ends piling up, a temporary frantic mood urging to get at least some of them resolved. A deep breath, a cold hot shower, a few gazes into mirrors and candles and a few other arcane routines, without second thought. Withdrawing into a new dark. With the morning just a few twinkles away. Sleep tight everyone wherever you are.
