'Behind the scenes, our infrastructure and operations team work hand-in-hand to provide our users with a sense of safety and give them confidence that we can continue running, independent of Bluesky. We have a ten-person volunteer moderation team recruited directly from our community. All of them have done community moderation on other platforms previously. For us, experience in this is important, as moderation can be traumatizing work and lead to burnout.'

The more I see reality unfold in parts of the ActivityPub Fediverse, the more I see a dire need for putting focus on some of the aspects in here. Like: Make migration between services a no-brainer. Fully, not just including rudimentary data like your contact list - or how would we feel about, in order to change e-mail providers, losing all our messages we ever sent? And: Make sure choice of moderation people want to rely on is an individual choice not tied to an infrastructural decision like where to keep your data - both because most of us feel "close" to different communities and also because these preferences as well as moderation culture might be likely to change over time but moving elsewhere, at the moment, isn't. And we're not even talking about usability and expected behaviour here.
