Also, again: Wondering whether the costs for server hardware still on the rise worldwide finally will make "us" come to the conclusion that self-hosting might be interesting for learning purposes but ultimately is yet another individualist, privileged solution and neither sustainable nor efficient nor in solidarity with others who are less privileged? That it might need approaches, algorithms, protocols, network topologies focused on keeping resource consumption low not just on an individual node or instance but on the network itself in general without sacrificing availability or performance or privacy (knowing of course there will be a trade-off at some points)?
