It all sounds great on paper for sure, but I had the same kind of “own everything, syndicate everywhere” hopes for Mastodon, too — I still kinda do, truth be told. I set up my own little Fediverse test server back at the height of Mastodon and, no, not for me; I like using it just fine, but owning it all was too much of a lift. I want to own my content, but I don’t want to own running an instance — something with its own UI, something with uploads in need of managing, something my experience of a larger network is routed through, something in need of privacy controls and preferences and settings and management. I put borders on stuff for a living. I just want a website; I want my website. In theory, that’s the intent of AT Protocol, as I understand it: my website, used and updated the way I want to, acting as an API.

... hallt mehr nach, als ich eigentlich wöllte. Muss mir das ganze Thema auch mal noch näher anschauen.
