(Not really sure why I am here with that particular new instance. Guess I need a break from some routines and some way to clean up without digging through the loads of stale and abandoned contacts in my list with tools that aren't up for that job and the sheer amount of them that have disappeared again - specifically too on social.tchncs.de where I can easily flip through dozens of pages of people that haven't been around in years and accounts that just turned quiet at some point. So I'm not importing any contact list in here, rather trying to reconnect to those that matter and are still around...🙈)

Another random thing here is me increasingly being unsure about too much technical clutter. Like, yeah, having blogs for keeping stuff and doing POSSE to post this to everywhere else is nice and all but in the end it add a vast load of moving pieces, it is mostly rudimentary (as in usually having no way of synching comments and conversations back), it consumes storage and CPU cycles and network bandwidth for transferring stuff around and it mostly includes too many tools to somehow handle. Like, using Bludit for my blog still feels kind of okay, it's PHP and reasonably lightweight so it can be handled without needing an actual full-blown server (just webspae will do) while it's still easy to tweak the code here and there to make it work better. And still it's hardly maintained these days, it still offers way more blogging features than I ever need while falling short on social / communication features I'd like to have. Too, mobile editing of posts, mobile media management, posting media in general is rudimentary and no real fun to have. Friendica is closer to that, it's far from perfect but seems still the least bad Fediverse server out there today, it's a tool I know reasonably well and that ticks enough boxes on my list ... so ... the idea of just using Friendica for everything and the kitchen sink becomes more and more attractive but such an endeavour I'd only take in general with a domain I control, at the very least after that nasty pixelfed experience earlier the year. Maybe this works out. (And yes even thinking all along these lines makes me feel a lot of understanding for people who "just" use Mastodon or even Bluesky or Threads and nothing else. These things are cool and interesting and fun to wrestle given time and resources, but they can be a burden and get into your way every other day if you don't want that, and in some ways they always add a confusing feeling of dissatisfaction because solutions always are just so good and the papercuts to receive day by day are not severe but yet annoying enough to be in a constant mode of mentally dealing with these aspects and sometimes you're just running out of capacity for that.)
