I think the #ActivityPub client-to-server API is extremely important and underrated. I’m glad to see the SWF and W3C group prioritizing it, because I think it has the potential to fix something that’s kind of broken on the #Fediverse: too many accounts, on too many platforms that really ought to be clients.
Here’s the rub, though: you need the big players in the space to support it. Mastodon needs to support it. Pixelfed and PeerTube need to support it.
So, how do you get the big existing projects to all implement it? How do you justify it?
Theoretically I'm interested in stuff like that. But on the other hand I suffer from a really short attention span and mostly I'm not able to follow lengthy conversations without losing focus.
But I can provide what I expect from an API, so that consider it fully usable.

You can tell that it eventually will be more streamlined. For example, there's only one tone mapper (as opposed to 3 of them doing more or less the same thing). And everything is much, much faster.
So I think that yes, in a way, it's going to be more intuitive. But it probably never will be "adjust exposure, highlights, contrast and shadows and be done" intuitive.
Like darktable it's very much of the school of thought that the photographer should be exposed to each and every intricacy of developing the picture.
Also, it's definitely not ready for prime time yet. In my 4 days of testing alone I have discovered a number of bugs ranging from mildly annoying to broken basic functionality.
But I think those things will be sorted out eventually.
@xenogon yeah I have been thinking about filmic & the other tone mappers, too. I totally understand where Darktable & Ansel are coming from, but I find the whole tone mapper thing way over the top.
I would be perfectly fine with one tone mapper (say: filmic), hidden from view except for the contrast slider, and secretly doing an "auto adjust" on each change of the exposure slider. Or something to that effect.
But I don't think we'll get that from either Darktable *or* Ansel 😉
Remote connections stuck, the fan moving slower than usual, lunch break almost went by unnoticed. It is annoying when the camera doesn't capture what we see, especially if we're trying to capture something to share with someone. And yes, these sunbeams do make the colder mornings worth it.
