In den Hinterhöfen spielen die Tiere, Blumentöpfe und Gläser klappern. Gelegentlich startet irgendwo ein Motor, gelegentlich beginnt ein Wecker zu singen, aber das Selbst ist langsamer und träger als der umgebende junge Tag. Noch kein Kaffee, noch keine Wahrnehmung für Ordnung und Abläufe. Und die Herausforderungen der Nachsicht mit sich selbst, stets aufs Neue. Habt es mild heute.

Staub tanzt im Licht, der Mittwoch findet seine Bahn durch Nebenräume, umgeben von Stapeln von Papier und eingehüllt in eine Wolke aus mäßig guter Laune. Pausenmodus, außerhalb allen Taktes. Erster klarer Himmel, erste milde Sonne seit vielen Tagen.

(Snow quickly turned water, leaving behind wet sidewalks glittering in that little sunlight that makes it through the clouds. Shards of broken bottles, remainders of cigarettes, a cyclist on its way heading towards the river, the usual flock of crows observing the janitor next door rolling trashcans in and out and there's as much routine in that morning as somehow possible. A brief visit to outside daylight, and a quick retreat. Vague memories of journeys not taken, platforms not seen, trains not missed.)
